Chornobyl Exclusion Zone feed icon

My sister, Ann, is working in Kiev, Ukraine, with the United Nations Development Program.

She recently went to the Chornobyl exclusion zone, and shares her experience there. She has some amazing photographs posted to her Flickr account.

In addition to the reactor itself, she visited the towns of Chornobyl and Prypiat, inside the Exclusion Zone.

It's fascinating to read her first-person report about the people who live and work within the shadow of the reactor on a daily basis. This kind of information rarely trickles out from American media outlets, so I encourage everyone to read Ann's post.

A good story of Ann... Take a look at these photos also: http://voffka.com/archives/2006/02/13/024603.html These are the photos of Chernobyl and Pripyat cities. The grave of the machinery, which was used in fighting with disaster and territory deactivation: http://voffka.com/archives/2006/02/14/024691.html A lot of little thigs from those fire-machines, helicopters etc were stolen a long time after the explosion, but things were really radioactive.
