Jun 9, 2008: Swim trunks
I took the kids to the pool yesterday afternoon for some rest and relaxation. It's always remarkable to watch the transformation that occurs as the kids hit the water. All the hostility and snottiness they usually exhibit toward one another instantly evaporates, and they're suddenly the best of friends. This usually lasts two or three swim periods, so I always try to enjoy it as much as I can while it's happening....

While looking to clean up my laptop's hard drive yesterday, I saw that I had downloaded a number of full-length features from Miro, but had never watched them. I transferred them to my MythTV computer with the intent of watching them on the television....
Aug 21, 2007: Trying for Triops
When I was a kid, I loved Sea Monkeys. I always begged to buy them when we saw a package for sale at a novelty shop. I knew they were just brine shrimp, but I thoroughly enjoyed the notion of the little buggers making a happy, vibrant community in the tank, as pictured by the smiling creatures on the packaging. I think I only ever had them on two or three occasions, and I'm quite certain I was disappointed by their microscopic size, but for some reason I always wanted more....
Aug 9, 2007: Concerts
The very first concert I ever saw was Alice Cooper, on the Raise Your Fist and Yell tour. My friend Devon went with me. Ace Frehley, former guitarist for Kiss, opened the show with his Frehley's Comet solo act. The next concert I saw was The Beastie Boys, on their License to Ill tour. I went with my neighbor Leon. To this day, I'm amazed that my parents permitted me to attend either of these concerts. Of course, I'm deeply grateful, since both concerts were wildly entertaining....
