Breadwinner

Carina quit her job today, cutting our yearly income by half. I’m now in the position to be the sole source of income for the four of us, which is a terrifying prospect.

But at the same time, I’m super excited for Carina. She had the twins in high school, and entered the full-time working world shortly after, without any real time for herself. Whereas I had my college years with which to screw around, Carina never enjoyed that. She’s very much looking forward to having some time to dedicate to the things about which she’s really passionate. She’s also looking forward to more quality time with the kids before and after school.

It’s now going to be a real challenge for me not to make jokes about her being the stereotypical housewife …
