Decaffeinated

I quit drinking caffeinated coffee. I’ve also sworn off caffeinated soda.
It wasn’t particularly hard; I can (and do!) still drink decaf coffee, and I don’t particularly like soda much, anyway.
But with Carina gone for the week, I’ve been staying up way too late at night. The lack of caffeine is making it harder for me to get going in the morning.
Last night Tom came over, bringing with him Axis & Allies. We started a game shortly before the twins went to bed, and played until well after midnight, when I finally conceded the game. Tom’s Germany was beaten down surprisingly early in the game by coordinated attacks from my Russia and England. Tom played Japan beautifully, while I stumbled along with the U.S., suffering defeat at every engagement. Japan controlled all of Asia, and ultimately stormed in to take Russia from me. It was at this point, tired and weary, that I resigned.
It was a great game, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I’m paying for it today, though, nearly falling asleep at my desk at work, and feeling extremely short-tempered with the twins tonight.
Tonight I’ll need force myself to bed early.
