Graduated

Carina graduated on Friday. It’s been a long time coming, and I couldn’t be more proud. It would have been extremely easy for her to say “Forget this,” and just quit; but she set her goal and she stuck to it. Tyler was literally jumping for joy during the commencement ceremony, exclaiming “Mommy’s a real adult now!”

After the ceremony and lunch with Carina’s parents, we whisked off to Deer Creek Lodge for the night. My parents watched the twins, so it was just Carina, and I … and the rain. We had hoped to do a little hiking, or bike riding, but the weather kept us indoors. We didn’t feel like swimming, so we just relaxed together. It was quite pleasant to put our feet up and unwind without our dear little ones screaming somewhere nearby.

Saturday night we had a gathering in the backyard to further celebrate Carina’s accomplishment. We had an absolutely great time, sitting around the fire and talking long into the night with close friends. It’s been quite a long time since we’ve had occasion to do anything like that. We’re very fortunate to have the friends that we do.
