Wanderlust

Mike is in Hong Kong for a week and a half on a business trip. As soon as I learned he was going I started gushing with advice as to places he should see, and I started to recall details of my own trip there that I had forgotten. This led me to dig out my photo archives and upload a lot of photos to flickr.

an example of interesting architecture in Hong Kong
Hong Kong has some absolutely amazing architecture. I walked around for the better part of a day simply gaping at the buildings. One of my favorites is the hotel on the beach with a big hole in the middle of it:

The story is that a dragon lives on the hillside -- every day he flies out over the water, and every night he flies back up the hill. When the hotel was built, it blocked the dragon's path. The feng shui masters had a section of the hotel removed so that the dragon could travel back and forth unhindered.

Some of my other favorite places were:

The Leaning Tower of Pisa The Cathedral in Milan, Italy Italy
Edingurgh Castle, Scotland Stirling Castle, Scotland Scotland and Wales
the welcome center at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, Wales
I had really hoped to be the one to add the longest tag to flickr, but someone beat me to it!

Spending so much time looking at pictures, and remembering all kinds of little details about each place, has me really wanting to travel again!
